All year in Provence

There’s no denying it, this cottage was a beautiful starting point, so adding to it in a way that delivered an architectural justice was a tall order. The home has a lovely story; this house is so loved the owners bought it twice! Originally their family home they sold it on as they outgrew it and moved to a different area. They missed the place and when it was eventually old on many years later by the new owners, they bought it back and let the property out. Once the children had left home and semi-retirement beckoned they moved back in and decided on a re-vamp.

Being lovers of the South of France, the owners didn’t want just any set of doors. Having seen a picture of a beautiful French courtyard cafe, they wanted something to evoke the same feeling.

Approaching Joe at Windows Etc with a picture from a magazine, they asked if the bifolds could be customised by adding a solid bottom section and a mullioned top section to create the same feel.

Joe was delighted to take it on since Windows Etc is not about ‘off the peg’ solutions but rather about tailoring a look to bring about the lifestyle home owners want.

Now, the doors peel back and reveal a courtyard garden with olives, a lemon tree and verbenas aplenty. The aperture invites you into a kitchen diner which is in turn lit by a roof lantern allowing daylight to spill in all year round.
