We love this project, the builder finishes his work as if he was going to live in the house himself, it’s a testament to detail! The house itself is set in a small village just outside Colchester. Along the main street there is a proliferation of architecture but in the centre there is a run of period properties. The builder has chosen well, opting for modern sash windows with a bay to the front, giving a period appearance with real character. The sashes retain all of the features of period glazing with metal sash catches and fittings and yet none of the draughty/noisy disadvantages.

The front door is a stylish composite with a beautiful period colour finish to the front with a modern take on traditional door furniture. The plain glazed panels to either side allow light to flood into the hallway creating a sense of space.

To the rear we find an open plan kitchen diner and we are in no doubt that the property has a modern feel. The rear section is a flat roof extension with a flat walk-on roof light to draw in the sky. Opening onto a social garden area are the elegant bifolds which reveal the entire rear of the dining area and create a seamless blend into the outdoor seating space. All in all a perfect blend of old and new.
