"Excellent team and excellent work! Highly recommend! From office staff, sales team, design team to the installation team, everyone was very professional. We have got new front door and then replaced all our windows. Great experience start to end for both projects. They know what they are doing - clear communication, good planning and clean execution."

This redevelopment project addresses all angles, function, tradition and aesthetic
It’s always a delight to get stuck into a challenging and inspiring new project, but even more so for the fact that these homeowners are back to Windows Etc for a second project. You may have seen one of our early projects, Colchester Edwardian, a modern extension on an Edwardian Townhouse. Having been bitten by the property development bug, this couple came back to see Joe when they took on their next project, a beautiful double-fronted home just north of Colchester.
Having been owned by one family since its construction at the turn of the last century, this project offered plenty of scope for the new owners’ imagination. Walls were moved, reinstated, the house was extended and reconfigured, nothing was left untouched. From start to finish this entire project was complete in around 8 months.
The rear of the property has a grand two-storey extension, giving further reach to the home’s original L shape and wrapping neatly around a social garden area. Bifold doors blend the interior and exterior spaces and make use of large-span leafs to offer uninterrupted views along with ease of access. Finished in a black powdered finish, the aluminium adds a modern twist to the old stock bricks and helps to link the traditional with the modern.
The upstairs windows are uPVC tilting sashes with traditional style fittings and profiles which do an excellent job of blending with the building’s original glazing. The tilting sash panes allow for ease of cleaning and are fitted with brushes for energy efficiency and smooth operation.
We’ll save the feature piece until last. The kitchen-dining-social area is practical, and the bifold doors give people something to talk about. Working closely with Joe, the homeowners have custom built windows to provide a triptych effect through the rear elevation, neatly divided by exposed brick piers which give a modern loft style post-industrial look which lends itself well to the era of the house.
