A window into modern country living

This detached house sits in quiet Suffolk countryside, and the renovation was planned around the view. With clear views from both the front and rear, the aim was to enhance the property’s connection with the outdoors, bringing the beauty of the landscape inside and creating a light, airy feel throughout.

Windows

The work began with uPVC flush sash windows throughout the home, finished in Agate Grey on Heritage White, which were carefully selected for their blend of elegance and practicality. These windows, free from glazing bars, offered uninterrupted views of the countryside, allowing natural light to flood the interior. The minimalist design, with neat trickle vents for ventilation, worked perfectly with the clean lines of the house, giving it a contemporary yet understated feel.

Bi-fold doors

To make the most of the beautiful views and create a stronger link between the indoors and the garden, slimline Origin bi-fold doors were fitted in both the dining room and kitchen. Both bi-folds were designed as three-part units, allowing for the all-important traffic door, which offers easy access without needing to fully open the bi-folds. Finished in Agate Grey to the exterior and white to the interior, the bi-folds have stainless steel handles, colour-coded hinges and shootbolt handles, which keeps the whole elevation consistent. The kitchen bi-folds were fitted with integral slider control blinds, providing both practicality and privacy without compromising on the sleek design.

Exterior updates

An important part of the project was converting the original garage door. This was closed off with smart cladding, allowing for the conversion of the space into part of the main home. The addition of galvanised Roofart guttering, supplied and fitted by Fascias Etc, brought a modern, slightly industrial touch to the property. The new fascias, soffits, and cladding ensured the exterior was fully updated and in harmony with the fresh, minimalist feel of the home, with a particularly pleasing effect to the flanks of the dormer windows.

Composite doors

Completing the job were three Solidors, all in matching Agate Grey to sit with the windows and bi-fold doors. The front, side, and rear doors were chosen for their durability and stylish appearance, providing the finishing touch to this carefully considered renovation.

The result

The result is a home that feels more connected to its surroundings, with wide open views and a fresh, modern look that enhances the charm of this countryside retreat. The Agate Grey windows, bi-folds, and toning front and rear doors create a calm, contemporary atmosphere, while the subtle updates to the exterior ensure the house fits beautifully into its natural setting.
