What could be more archetypal of the English home than soft red bricks, timber sash windows and swathes of glorious Wisteria festooning the front of the house? Very little, we imagine. Yet this home belies its heritage. It is actually a comparatively modern build, but sympathetic to the traditional Essex Edwardian property style.

This property helps us to see that modern manufacturing is every bit as classic as the old stuff, except it reaps the benefits of modern security, durability and thermal properties.

We hope you agree that the front of this home is a treat, and we were lucky enough to capture this in May when the flowering was at its crescendo. The front door is a Solidor composite door, in a traditional muted blue with floral patterns to the obscured glazing. The door furniture has an iron hammer-finished effect to complete the look.

To front elevation of this double-fronted property we are treated to the beauty of Bereco timber sash windows. These wonderful windows operate and feel like original sashes, except without the rattling and the draughts! The attention to detail is superb, even down to the catches and handles.

To the rear of the property, the kitchen has Origin aluminium french doors, and the dining area has lovely two-leaf Origin Aluminium Bifolds.

The side entrance has the traditional stable-door, again from Solidor, so it has the constructive benefits of a modern composite door, with the charm of a stable door.

We absolutely adore this project, it’s so reassuring to know that such a wholesome traditional look and feel can be achieved with modern glazing and doors.
